Everything will be alright. It happened to me the same way .I just submitted an experience letter from one of my colleague who is still employed with my previous employer. My 140 was approved as soon as they received the documents.
I hope you have progressive experience (it means, growth within the company, as you gain years of experience). This is essential. Other than that, you should be good.
Cheers

AC21 has nothing to do with EAD.
So, does that mean there's no need to invoke AC21 after you get you get EAD, if you want to change employer before 180 days of your filing?

Isn't it a relief? if the officer calls you for interview, checks your documents and says approved but no GC till PD current? I can live happily with it for couple of years atleast without thinking of GC. The feeling of getting GC in future 100% is almost equal to having GC today. You can change jobs on AC21 without fear and use EAD and AP full force and forget about renewing H1b's
Exactly, I agree with you. I would love to get such an interview call. Atleast after that I will be sure that one day i will get the actual GC.:D

I Hope that after this trip to DC ends, we will know a lot more about the upcoming legislation and our own strategy.
Let us not wait for legislations to be tabled, let us join hands and get our friends to join this organization so that we are all ready when the times comes for us to be active.

just for comparison sakes...do remember that the distance from churchgate to virar (in bombay) is 35 km. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mumbai_Suburban_Railway.
That is equivalent of approx 22 miles. I doubt there is anybody is bombay that drives 35 km one way on a daily basis. But in the US living 10-20 miles from work is not bad. People in my office drive about 40 miles one way without blinking an eyelid. Some drive even more. Plus the cars that they have in india have smaller engines, smaller capacity thereby better gas mileage.
So for people who say gas is a non issue, think again.
not to mention public tranportation in Bombay compared to majority of US cities, barring handful like San Francisco, Chicago and New York.

Hi,
I self e-filed my EAD application and the Receipt date is 6/7/10. They called for Biometrics which is done.
I got an email saying that they have sent a RFE. Waited for 10 days, still no signs of RFE. When I called USCIS, they asked me to wait for 15 days. When I called after 15 days, they created a Service Request to re-mail the RFE. Now they say, I have to wait for 45 days. When I asked them if they will extend my deadline to reply to the RFE, she said she doesn't know.
Has anyone been in this situation ?
What kind of RFE will they send for an EAD extension.
I sent my 485 receipt and a copy of my EAD when I e-filed.
How many days do they usually give to respond to the RFE ?
Any feedback is appreciated.
Thanks.

Mine took 8 days after the online status changed to approved-so don't worry. It's funny, on their website, they said documents mailed on sept 10, but i rcvd them on sept 17th. When i rcvd the AP, i realized the documents were mailed on sept 13-sept -- so don't blindly trust what is online.
There was a black line---uscis printer completely screwed up-and the first line of the address on mailing envelope and the address was completely un-readable. I am not sure how we even got it in mail.
I second to CC123. I had G-28 on everything. I got the EAD and AP directly. However, I did not get any original receipt notices from USCIS. My lawyer got the all original receipt notices.

call ur airport, I remember a friend got his I94 extended based on new I797 at the airport.
BTW- if u have an approved I797 and an expired I94, u are not out of status....when u travel next time out of country...keep current docs with u and when u reenter...the POE officer will give u i94 based on ur latest I797..
What I dont understand is when u entered US in may 06, with a I797 of 2010
, why didnt the POE officer give u i94 until 2010?
That's because my current 797 was valid till Jun 2007 and he said he can only stamp the date that is on the current 797. I guess it depends on the POE officer and in my case its unfortunate that it got messed up. Someone in the forum mentioned that he got it for 3 years. I think its very very YMMV

500,000 Legal immigrants in limbo:
lets say (I mean lets Tell them) 1/5 th of that # buy on an average $300K houses.
That equates to $30 billion.. Not a bad #. But I am sure all want to buy houses eventually. Thats $150 billion. Not a small #.
Lets say (again tell them).
1/100 th of 500,000 start companies, of 5 employees each=25,000 jobs.. Not bad again.
This idea is inline with our IV campaign that was discussed sometime back. We can tell in different forms to the media. Somebody may publish.
From This website (http://www.realestateabc.com/outlook/overall.htm) As of August 2008, the national median home price had fallen 9.5 percent in the preceding 12 months, to $203,100. So your number is way high already. Even 1 out of 5 will purchase house as you predict, can you say they all have good credit to get the loan to buy house? If you say all these people have 200K to 300K cash in hands, not loan, and they will buy house right away as soon as they get their GC. Then you may have a chance to have them listen to you.

Its risky to change job (other than same or similar) using AC21 Rule:
Here's an extracts from Shusterman.
"To determine whether the new job is the same or similar to the old job, the USCIS consults the Labor Department Dictionary of Occupational Titles (DOT) or the online O*NET Classification System (one of the two), or similar publications. The memo prohibits INS officers from denying I-485 based on failure to demonstrate that the new job is in the same or a similar occupation as the initial job unless they have consulted, on a case-by-case basis with USCIS headquarters."
Shusterman.com links to the memo at http://shusterman.com/toc-gc.html#2A1 and to the DOT and the O*NET from http://shusterman.com/toc-dol.html#7.

Babu, thanks for confirming that this stupid rule is in fact true. I always wonder how USCIS gets crafty in making new rules.
It will be easier to just get the stamping done in INDIA. That way, will get stamp till 2010.
Looking at reply from Babu. I think Babu. got I-94 corrected through Amended H1 (INS) . and then travelled to INDIA. While returning from INDIA
by the last updated rule He would have retuned with a valid I-94.
