In Kansas there is a strangely different rule. They give in-state but show the balance amount between in-state and out of state as scholarship given to the individual in a separate 1098 T tax form. This increases your taxes slightly and the individual cannot claim education credits in the tax return.

I was trying to check what is the priority date attached to I485 application. Seems there is no such info. attached to pending I-485 application.
Also, just now I checked my 485 receipt. The PD column in my I-484 receipt is blank. Is this common for every one? Just curious?

Higher salary should not be a problem at all. Important thing is, the salary should be equal or above the prevailing wage at new location for that job classification at that position/level. PW also a survey of wage by DOL. It does not mean that one should not earn considerably more than average. Lets see an hypothetical example,
A young Software engineer joins microsoft using AC21 and dates Bill gates son/daughter and marry him/her. Bill gates increase that person salary to 1 million, but he/she continuously doing same SW engineer job. In that case 1 million salary should not be a problem for AC21, because it is higher than PW in seattle.
(Dont ask me why not if a person marry Bill gates son/daughter they can come in family category)

However still new salary is more than what is required to pay for similar job at that place i.e. if a company is filling for a new H1B. (the prevailing wage at new location for that job classification at that position/level)
Now in this case, if the salary is 10K less than what is specified in my I-140, will I hear any music from CIS? This is not hypothetical, but real dilemma I am facing.

You make very good points.
Actually a lot of folks who are beyond 6 years are themselves to blame to some extent. We did not realize that its a long process and the sooner you start the better it is.
Here's the deal. The GC process takes 4 years on average if you are from India/China. Some ppl get it it in 3 years. Some get it in 5 years. The systems is built in a way that it has to take at least 3 years. Back when labor processing used to take 2 years (1yr state + 1yr federal), the rest took 1-2 years. Now labor is really fast and the dates are retrogressed.
So, now it will take 6 months to get labor and then 2+ years of waiting for dates to become current then processing for 1 year. So about 4 years.
Off course some of us got the short end of the stick when cases got shipped to BEC's and labor took 4 instead of 2 years. and then some people are stuck in retrogression after getting out of BEC's. Its all about knowing the entire game before getting into it. I kick myself for not starting the process sooner.
So, your options are 1) Labor subs 2) Go to India and come back as L1 3) Fight the system 4) Do nothing and wait.

SLowhand, You are absolutely right. We can understand if USCIS does not send anything to employee for I-140, but for I-485, which really is an application from the employee, it is really not legal for the attorneys to dance on employers' tunes and provide our paperwork to them and then blackmailing us together.

(C) The travel outside of the United States by an applicant for adjustment of status who is not under exclusion, deportation, or removal proceeding and who is in lawful H-1 or L-1 status shall not be deemed an abandonment of the application if, upon returning to this country, the alien remains eligible for H or L status, is coming to resume employment with the same employer for whom he or she had previously been authorized to work as an H-1 or L-1 nonimmigrant, and, is in possession of a valid H or L visa (if required) and the original I-797 receipt notice for the application for adjustment of status.
Looks like we can ask for a receipt notice in case we are travelling out of the country. Atleast ask!

If someone has EB2 application, and EB2 is unavailable, but their EB2 PD is current with respect to EB3 visa bulletin date, will USCIS allow an EB2 to take an EB3 slot?
